ICAI Student Registration Step by Step
New CA students register online through the ICAI Self Service Portal. Below is the general flow students follow. Fees, cut-off dates and eligibility are set by ICAI and change from time to time — always confirm them on icai.org before paying.
1. Create your SSP account
Open the SSP portal and start a new student registration. You will get a user ID on the email address you enter, so use one you check regularly.
2. Fill the registration form
Enter your personal details, qualification details and address exactly as they appear on your documents. Mismatches are the most common reason applications get sent back.
3. Upload documents
- Recent photograph and signature
- Proof of date of birth
- Last qualifying marksheet or certificate
- Any category or additional certificate the form requests
4. Pay the fee and submit
Complete the online payment and download the receipt. If money is deducted but the portal does not confirm, do not pay again — raise a ticket with the transaction details.
5. After approval
Once the registration number is issued, keep it handy — you will need it for exam forms, branch events, and student conferences.
Frequently asked questions
- Where do I register as a CA student?
- All student registrations are handled online through the ICAI Self Service Portal (SSP) on icai.org. There is no separate offline form for new registrations.
- Which documents do I need to keep ready?
- Typically a recent photograph, signature, proof of date of birth, and your last qualifying marksheet, each scanned within the size and format limits shown on the upload screen. The exact list is displayed on the form.
- How long does registration take to be approved?
- After fee payment and document upload, ICAI verifies the application and issues the registration number. Track the status from the same SSP login rather than re-submitting a fresh application.
